True Forgiveness

When we practice true forgiveness, not the religious model of forgiveness, we are not forgiving something that we think really happened. If it really happened, then we are being asked to "overlook" something, and that is impossible. You can't forgive something and still be angry or have feelings about it, which is how the religious model of forgiveness operates --- I forgive you but I still remember the act. Or God forgives us but still remembers we are sinners. The basis of true forgiveness looks at the act which we think is real and sees the illusion for what it is. It sees the Love behind all acts and appearances. It knows that words or actions are done from fear and that the person committing these acts is unaware of their divinity or they would not act in that manner. It takes great courage for you to look behind the words or actions of another person which hurt you, but this will open the gates of Heaven for you. By offering true forgiveness, you not only acknowledge the divinity of the other person, you acknowledge your own divinity.
