The Holy Spirit is the boat which carries you on the River of Life, but it can only guide you in the present moment and if you have provided an opening. If you have decided in advance where you are going on the River --- what you will be, what you will think, or what you will believe --- you cannot receive the guidance you need to avoid the rapids and big rocks.
