Self Pity And Gratitude
If you have self pity, gratitude cannot be present. If you are grateful, self pity cannot be there.
Self pity shows us what we don't have --- it is based on a belief in separation and that we are missing something --- wealth, intelligence, God's Love, etc. Self pity takes us out of the present moment as we are looking to the future to get what we perceive we don't have.
Gratitude exists only in the present moment and sees that we are perfect as we are and that we have all we need as His holy child, even if we are poor or physically disabled, etc. It doesn't mean that we can't have more and this will improve our circumstances, but we can be grateful that regardless of our circumstances, we are complete in Him.
