Guilt Leads To Anger
When someone accuses you of something, you only get mad and defensive if you think its true AND you feel guilty about it.
You can be accused of something and you can simply acknowledge that it is true. This is a warrior taking personal responsibility. If you don't think it is true, you can simply say so without the anger. It is the guilt that creates the anger, and the guilt can be whether it is true or not (you may have guilt over other things around this person and this triggers that).
We don't want to feel guilty, because guilt is what's wrapped around our relationship with God and cuts us off from feeling His Presence. So when accusation and guilt arises in our personal relationships, we try to turn the guilt around and project it back to the other person by getting angry at them. This unsuccessful of course, but we continue operating on this hamster wheel until we recognize the pattern and address the source of the guilt within us.
