Why Do We Try To Control?
Why do we try to control people and situations? First, try is the proper word, because we can never really control anything, at least not from the standpoint of how our ego or personality tries. At a spirit level, nothing comes to us that we have not agreed to in order to help us remember our divinity and Oneness. God makes our choices happen --- the experiences we have, the people we meet, everything. When we get out of the way and allow this to happen, we are in the flow of Spirit and the River of Life
But when we try to control things at a personality level, we are not in the flow. We are trying to hold on to rocks in the River and the current is smashing us. Why do we do this? Because we have fear. We do not trust that God is a God of Love, that He has our highest good. We do not trust that what happens to us is what is meant to be. We think we know better than God what is our highest good. We believe, falsely, that if we control things, we can keep ourself safe. Safe from the world, safe from a God who will punish us. All false beliefs that need to be released.
